Supplies vs. Repair Parts
A lot of pool businesses record everything from O-rings to skimmer baskets as “supplies.” It might be simpler in the field, but it creates a problem: you can’t tell whether your monthly service margin is healthy or quietly collapsing.
Good bookkeeping separates monthly service consumables (supplies) from repair parts. Tracking it separately tells you whether you’re giving away parts on service stops, or whether repair jobs are actually paying off after parts are considered.
When your books show the split, you can tighten your rules: what gets included in monthly service, what gets billed, and what gets treated as a repair. Stop letting parts drift into the wrong bucket and skew your margins.
